Saint Joseph Catholic Church

Safe Environment Information & Required Volunteer Forms

We Are Committed

Saint Joseph Catholic Church is committed to providing a safe environment for children, youth, and vulnerable individuals as safety is one of our key Parish priorities. At Saint Joseph Parish, we want to ensure everyone feels welcomed and are safe to worship and grow in their Catholic faith.

VIRTUS Training

The Archdiocese of Atlanta proudly offers Safe Environment training materials to all schools and parishes. VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children (commonly referred to as “Virtus”) is the training program offered for adults and children. We host VIRTUS trainings regularly at Saint Joseph for all volunteers working with children, youth, and/or vulnerable individuals.

Volunteer Safe Environment Requirements

The Archdiocese of Atlanta requires that all adult volunteers (18 years old or older) working with children, youth, and/or vulnerable individuals must complete the Safe Environment training (VIRTUS) and undergo a background screening before they're able start volunteering with Saint Joseph Parish.

Volunteers who are 13 years old or older should complete the Volunteer Application for Minors with their parent’s permission, and the School Reference for Minors form. Homeschooled minors must provide three references (non-family members).

If you have any questions, please contact Laura Fenton via e-mail at lfenton@saintjosephcc.org or phone 770-422-5633 ext 53.

Reporting Abuse

In addition, volunteers must be familiar with Reporting Child Abuse Guidelines as detailed by the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Please visit the Archdiocesan Safe Environment page for information and guidelines on reporting child abuse.
